Salmon Blossoms

I was playing with light in this picture. I was trying to capture the light hitting the blossoms from the other side, giving the impression that the blossoms are paper like. What do you think?

Magnifying Details

I liked how this water dropplet magnified the details in the leaf....click on the pic and see for yourself.....Who needs a spy glass!!!

A symbol of Motherhood

Here is one of the shots I got this weekend that I was happy with. Found a group of Harron's nesting behind Silver City's movie theatre.....I might have to try again...but a different setting to get a more detailed shot. But this is the best out of the lot.

Weekend results

Well my weekend was not as productive as I would have liked. Saurday it rained Cats and Dogs...couldn't get out. I did try though, but didn't want to risk ruining my camera. So put that thought away for the day. Sunday was a wonderful day full sun, little cloud cover. But the nest I targeted didn't yeild the Bald Eagle shot I wanted to get they were too busy flying around enjoying the sun. They were sooo far up all I saw of them was their outline. As for my next project I did get one good shot...not excellent but good. I will put it up tomorrow...till then..

This weekend

WEll everyone I'm sure your tired of the bird pics....but as they say when you have no foilage to photograph till spring comes and the bugs wake up ...this is it for now. I will let you know that I do have some exciting projects coming up. Tree frogs anyone? yes I will be going out and getting some cool shots of those cute guys/girls this Easter. Plus I have some cool stuff for this weekend....(If I can capture what I'm trying to achieve) Till then you will have to keep checking in.

Stellar Jay...on the move

I managed to get this Stellar blue Jay at goldstream the other day....but what I did notice was just how dead the area sounded. I was lucky if I even heard a few birds, and at the wild life cabin there was no life there at all. Sad really it once was booming with wild birds at one time and wild life. I was accually hopeful of finding an Owl....no such luck.

Takin Five

This young man was just takin five from building his nest. He looks rather tired to me.

Standing Tall

This Mallard was standing at attention for me. He found I was quite interesting, especially my camera. He accually decided to investigate and came very close to me after that and I got a great shot of him in the pond. Ahhh for a later posting though:)

THEME: James Bond

All I can say is that, when I was attempting to try to get this little guy. The theme from James Bond came into my head....that is how fast/ action packed he moves on the forest floor. This Kinglet eats only little bugs, as soon as they catch the bug, they jump to catch their next meal. Soooo this picture is extra special.

During Spring Break I took my boys out with me.....never do that. I learned that achieving good shots of birds you don't take two boys out with you. This was one of very few good shots I got, before the boys being loud scared them all away. Hahahhah.....

I did a super macro on this wee little daisy...I thought it looked truly cool done this way. I know it is associated as a weed, but I still consider it beautiful and spring like.

Well I thought maybe you might want a change from all my bird pictures. Yes I'm a little partial already, I just love little birds. But I entered a photo contest for spring flowers through our local paper today. The winners don't get money, but instead get viewed on their web site as a slide show. Busy couple of days...WOW

Hey everyone. Since I took spring break off....I finally have had a couple of days to head out and see what kind of trouble I could get myself into. Well did I ever have some outstanding success!!! As luck would have it the Peacocks are totally girl CRAZY right now, and I'm sure your going to like what I put on here today. The Effects of Rain

Well it has been a few days since I added a new pic. Victoria had a lot of rain today, but when the sun came out I took the opportunity to try and capture the beauty in lovely water drops. Some are stunning, while others are mystical.

UVIC

Hello everyone,

I don't have a picture to add today, but I'm excited to let all of you know that the University of Victoria is having their Orchid show this weekend. So I'm planning to go and hopefully get some fantastic shots. So stay tuned. Apparently the Orchids on display there are extremely rare to the very common. I'm hoping to have some fresh pictures up for viewing on Saturday evening. Till then....

Great Time

This Mallard was having a great time. He was taking a bath. If you look at him closely he is covered in little water dropplets, very cool.

So Delicate

I happened to run across this little cluster of pink. Seemed sort of unusual to me considering that it was the only thing alive on the whole branch....unusal yes, but lovely at the same time.

Fall begins

Well to end the evening on a lovely note. I`m putting in my all time favorite picture. This shot was done at Mintor`s gardens just outside Harrison Hot springs. I was on my honeymoon at the time. Lovely memory for me. Enjoy

I laughed when I saw this little bird trying to have their lunch in peace. Little did it know that I was spying on the wee one. Couldn`t resist.

Woke up to rain today, so here's a picture to brighten our day

I just love the contrast in this picture. The jagged leaves versus the soft yellow flowers. Victoria is known for it's rain here, so I needed that little bit of wow factor today. So thought this pic would do.

A Humming Bird's Cry

At my Mother and Father in laws they have a very unusually high ratio of humming birds at their house. This little male was at the very top of one of their trees. I took the picture, but definitely had to modify the colors so he would stand out. The day was very gray, so he looked like a black silhouette...not the best shot I could have done. Next time I will have to try my long distance flash see what results I get then.

Almost Spring

I can almost feel spring in the air. So to say goodbye to winter I took this picture of the last of the winter berries I could find. Ta Ta winter....Helloooo to spring

It took me hours to get this shot. This male just couldn't stay still for a minute. But after many, many attempts I finally got a decent shot. Not the best but decent.
