Well because I had to go to work early yesterday....called in again to change my shift. I decided that after work I would challenge myself and hike up Mt. Doug. I had heard from some of the residence in the area that there is an Owl in there...so I thought I would try and see if I could find it. Well looks like I will have to do a few more trips into Mt Doug I had no idea that it was such a large area to explore. I did manage a decent shot of this lovely Dark-eyed Junco.....He was singing his head off wasn't too hard to find him.Song Sparrow's voice
When I went on my large hike around both Elk lake and Beaver lake this Song Sparrow caught my attention. I would have to say that the Song Sparrow's voice in one of the most distinctive voice in our forests!! you hear them everywhere...but sooo beautiful. This shot the bird could have just walked right out onto my head. So I took the shot who wouldn't?Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Fiddle Head
To break up and add some contrast to my blog today I thought I would post this lovely shot of a fiddle head. I found out yesterday that allot of people eat these. Fry it up with butter, salt, pepper and onions!!! Wow I would never in a million years thought that you could eat these. Amazing what you find out isn't it?Male House Finch
I caught this lovely male house finch at my feeder the otherday....It's the first decent picture I've gotten of him. Everytime I tried to get his picture he would fly away. Finally after some time over a week he accepted the fact that I come outside and will now stay at the feeder while I'm out...but not for anyone else.Male Robin

Wonderful Day
Wow what a wonderful day I had today. The sun was out!! the weather was warm and I took a very very long walk. I walked for four hours today and I have posted some of the fruits of my adventures! Yes I'm very pleased to say that I came across two species of Woodpeckers today. The Downy and the Pileated. The Pileated is extra special and are hard to come across on your average walk...but today was a lucky day. I hope you enjoy the lovely snaps of these beautiful birds.
