Wasps what pests aren't they...but I thought I wonder what they truly look like while at a safe distance from them with the Macro option. I was pleasantly surprised....this wasp was actually taking thin strips of wood off the log in my yard. I further investigated why....well of course to take that pulp to construct their nests...is that cool...what a wonderful way to again take a decomposing matter and make something useful instead. Even though they are a nasty pest.
okay.....you've gotten me to appreciate something I actually fear. Wasps and stingy things give me the creeps, but I can see the beauty of him in your photo. :-)
ReplyDeleteI fear them too. I don't think there are alot of people out there that don't....but they are apart of nature and there is a purpose that these bugs do and have. It's just a challenge to find it I think when fear clouds our vision.
ReplyDeleteOn a quiet Summer's day I can hear the wasps scraping away the wood from my fences. It took me a while to work out what the noise was and where it was coming from. When they have gone I can see the lighter patches where they have been at work.
ReplyDeleteLovely macro shot.
Oh John thanks for sharing such a great story loved it.
