LadyBug~ Within the Grasses

Well what can you say about these fantastic little bugs!!. Alot I can tell you, they are a garden's dream bug. The little helper of aphid control the power house! I love these bugs when I see them in my garden I smile with glee. I ran across this little wee on down by the ocean if you can believe that. The winds were incredibly strong but this wee one just got to work looking for sucking parasites. My images because of the wind aren't as crisp as I would like them to be. But these are my first shots of these great little bugs! I have my pom poms waving in the wind as I cheer LOL

  1. Very true Crista. The Ladybird is a gardener's best friend. I wish I had more in my garden. I haven't seen many at all this year though there is plenty of food for them as the greenfly are busily destroying my plants.

  2. Hey I'd like to comment that welcome-thingy in your blog... It was great to see Finnish there but still I would put it something like "Tervetuloa Nature-as-is" cos we sometimes just don't translate everything... It makes things more simple... Or you could say "Tervetuloa Nature-as-is:iin" (tried to make the translation to the "as is" part but I think we don't have good translation to that:D... And the ":iin" is the English "to").
But you don't have to change it... It just sounds silly (to a Finn) to translate just part of the centence (or something like that).

  3. Ahhh John so do I....I can say the same here I haven't seen very many ladybugs around this year...this one like I said was down at the ocean no where near my garden. I wonder if there might be a problem with the species...something that might be causing their low numbers? Something maybe eating their eggs...hard to say really.

Lomoncello ~ Thankyou for you lovely comments and I will denfinately impliment the change. Thank you for your direction in my Welcome post :)

  4. Hi Crista, I got aphids in my virginia Creepers. for aphid control. Take i cup of vegetable Oil and mix with 3 tablespoons of dish soap, shake and then add 2 tablespoons of this mixture to 3 cups of water. Spray plants. Last year they completely stripped them, this year this recipe is helping, I have to do it about every 3 weeks....Apparently you can order ladybugs at ladybug. com and then you just let them loose in your yard. I am going to check into it. I have yet to see a ladybug here this year. Take care, Have a great day. cinner
